Summer Reading Challenge!

Craft a Reader
Craft a Reader 3

This summer, the South Sound Reading Foundation invites your family to "Craft-a-Reader" with our ultimate Minecraft-inspired Summer Reading Challenge! We’ve flipped the script on traditional reading logs to bring you a checklist packed with creative, laugh-out-loud quests designed to level up your child's love of books.

Can your child read a story completely backward?
Have they ever shared a chapter book with a favorite pet or stuffed animal?

From diving into pages while dressed up in a favorite costume to hunting down books with food in the title, this challenge turns every page into a brand-new adventure. It’s free, it’s fun, and it’s the perfect way to keep young minds building their reading skills all summer long.

Unlock Awesome Rewards!
What's a quest without loot? When your child completes their checklist, they get to visit us to pick out a brand-new FREE book to keep, plus a bundle of other fun surprise prizes!

Spawn Your Checklist! Ready to join the server? Download your "Craft-a-Reader" checklist today by clicking the button below, or pick one up at our next community event! Let’s make this a summer of unforgettable stories.

Who says summer reading challenges are just for kids?

This summer, the South Sound Reading Foundation is challenging the grownups to get in on the fun! We’ve put together a Summer Reading Challenge designed to help you rediscover the joy of reading, explore our local community, and try something new.

Final Challenge: Learn about our Books by the Bay featured author, Olufunke Grace Bankole, and read her incredible book, The Edge of Water!

The Best Part? The Prize! When you complete and turn in your checklist, you’ll be entered into a drawing to win TWO FREE TICKETS to our annual Books by the Bay event this September!

How to play:

Check off the items at your own pace this summer.
Submit your completed list by August 25th to enter the drawing!
